My week's edit of things that have inspired me & my thoughts.

I'm currently doing a course, learning to transfer my skills for coaching. It's been a fascinating process and I'm in the process of doing trial sessions to develop my techniques. The theme that keeps coming up for me is to allow time to think, to really give yourself space. It seems in this busy world we are bombarded with messages and conditioned to always be doing something. I'll be looking to challenge this and help people carve out time and space to really think. I'm trying to do this with my team first and to really listen to them more.

As a book lover, I'm always buying books, and mostly from Amazon. But it would be great to support other businesses  bookshop.org have just launched, it’s an online platform where you can shop from your local bookshop via their site. I also love using Wordery as it has a great range of more unusual books, which I’ve been using for Christmas presents.

I love the #somethingtosmileabout campaign from Specsavers, it's very clever with the focus on the eyes, especially relevant at the moment that's how we mostly see people. It's good to see such diversity in their choices of models and brand ambassadors. And that each person as part of the campaign have been celebrated as individuals. My favourite is from my insta friend, Design Historian Emmanuelle, I love the energy and sharing the story behind the glasses wearer.

We're always sharing inspiration within my Tickety Boo Creative team and this week my Creative Partner, Pam shared this great clip from the BBC archives. It's a newsreel article from 1951 about the arrival of self serve shopping. Seems like we've really come a long way since then, and for the better. I really enjoyed seeing the fashion at the time and love that check coat!

And finally I’ve been feeling inspired by my 5 year old son, he’s really got the drawing bug recently so I’ve given him his own sketchbook. He starts the day drawing and it’s the last thing he does before his bath and bedtime story. He says he just has all these ideas he wants to get out of his head. So I’m trying to encourage him to really express himself. Here are a couple of his drawings (mostly Toy Story themed) but I love his use of colour and freedom with the sketching.
