Art is subjective

I have a friend who is an amazing artist.
Helen Girling.
She’s an Artist, Mum and Primary School Teacher.

Her work is expressive, mainly of figures and human details.
She shares her work.
She shares her work in progress.
She shares her inspirations.

She’s currently got an exhibition where she launched a new collection. It’s new, it’s a bit different.

Helen Girling - The Black Moon Collection

I’ve fallen in love with this new collection.
It’s Abstract.
Created with Japanese ink.
On Khadi paper.

It’s called the Black Moon Collection.
It’s simple.
It’s bold.
It’s confident.

I’d love to have one hanging on my wall.

My husband is not a fan.

He sees darkness.
He sees gloom.
It reminds him of Steven Kings ‘IT’

To me I see light.
I see optimism.
I see possibility.

“I love that art is subjective and love this question. I’ve often resisted giving artwork titles as I like the open invitation to make your own response. Looking, listening and responding is the highest compliment to any artwork.”
- Helen Girling
